I am with Sky broadband (LLU).

I am wired directly to the router and no issues with my main pc, we then have a laptop which is connected wireless again with no problems. I am how ever struggling to get my sons pc connected wirelessley. The router is a Netgear DG834GT which is down stairs in the front room, my sons pc is upstairs to the back of tghe house, the reception is good 90-95% (when I do a search) but when I try to connect it tries and tries and tries, but fails.

Ending in a red cross/monitor icon.

The wireless card is a Belkin F5D7000, and I presume this is the problem. I think its because the software doesn't support WPA encription and doesn't understand how to connect to it, is it time for an upgraded wifi card?

I have also tried windows to configure the card but it doesn't see it.

Googling comes up with mixed reports on WPA support and a few different versions of the card, some suggesting you need to use Windows own Wireless Zero Configuration utility rather than the Belkin software. Personally I hate Belkin adapters and the software that comes with them, so I'd be inclined to replace it, probably with an Edimax if I was buying from OcUK.

Should be fine.

Wireless N means it supports the draft 802.11n standard, it's still backwards compatible with the 802.11g used by your DG834GT.

Is the non-connecting PC vista or XP - I had a card that wouldn't connect after XP SP3 - needed a new xard.

Just a thought - check compatability. Perhaps the software needs updating - there are several versions / updates on the Belkin website.
