Hey Guys,

I just installed windows 7 and it's working great but I cannot seem to connect to the internet. Could it be a problem with my wifi card? which is the realtek RTL8139/810x Family PCI fast ethernet NIC

Many thanks in advance

Yes it could likely be a driver issue. you din install the card drivers on to your w7 install? (just checking)

You're MoBo should have an Ethernet port I'd suggest testing it on a wired connection through that .

I think you should move this to internet/connectivity forum though or maybe the windows forum.

a lot of the tech experts don;t come into GD any more :p

Try reinstalling google on vista/xp, and then place it on a memory stick, and copy over onto your windows 7 boot.

If all fails, try the correct sub-forum.

Many thanks for your reply

I already done the wired connection test to no avail. I will try to install a new driver. Unfortunately I don't have a usb thumb drive with me to get the new driver on to get it onto the computer with windows 7. Is there a way I can connect both computer by cat5?

Many thanks in advance

That sounds more like an ethernet card than a wifi card. Are you sure you actually have the drivers installed for your wireless?

Seriously, why doesn't this guy ever post in the right section?

Edit: It's been moved lol

iirc you need a special cat5 cable to do pc to pc (it's slightly different to the pc to router one etc)

However the easiest way is just to connect both HDDs to the same pc and copy files across them.

When you say you tried the wired connection was that through the card or through the motherboard sockets?

As for the guys being dicks. For once he;s asked a decent enough question so let it slide and actually help for once.

Although bunny I still want to know if you got that ps3 for free:P

Many thanks for all your replies

I hought a cat5 to cat5 connection would work. But it seems not as how could it when my thernet card on the windows7 boot doesn't pick up my network. Now i can't do usb to usb as I have got the right cable for that. Any other ways?

Many thanks for this thread. I'm disappointed your network connection isn't working as you won't be able to send me a copy of your book.

hard drive to hard drive is the easiest mate. just dl the stuff on to one then add it in as a second hdd to the other pc then just copy the files over.

the pc to pc Ethernet cable as a different order in the wires iirc try the wiki pae for a decent explanation.

But does your mother board have its own ether net sockets rather than using the card? (most should do ) try unplugging the card and using the mobo.

edit: ahh threads been moved these guys will know more than me :) good look.
