A friend has an ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 in his system, he can copy files from a 16GB USB stick to his PC's harddrive without any issues, but has recently got a 32GB SanDisk Cruzer Slice and appears not to be able to copy files over to his PC. The 32GB stick is formatted to NTFS so its not the 4GB file restriction and has the latest USB3 drivers, basically will drag the folder to the desktop and the files from the USB stick will start to copy but then will stop after 30's or so and is always on the same file it will just stop copying even though its still saying its copying but the progress bar will not move. If you try and kill the copying process it will not end the process if i try a system restart via windows 7, then it will just hang on the windows logging out screen.

I have tried this USB stick on my own PC and i dont have any problems what so ever so i dont believe its the USB stick. Any ideas??

have you tried different USB ports? directly into the mobo as opposed to the front panel connections on a case? if already using the mobo, try some different ports.

The symptoms sound a lot like a driver issue.

Attempt to update your USB driver via device manager, or check your M/B manufacturers website for chipset updates.

Tired and check all of the above suggestions before i posted, and didnt seem to help. I was under the think that its related to it being a 32GB drive??, as 16GB drives work flawlessly, could it be related to the capacity of the USB Stick, even though its only about 6GB data his trying to copy over

EDIT: forget to mention, if he leaves the files copying he eventually gets a message similar to, The Destination You Have Specified Does Not Exist, and something about an empty CD disc. We have tried using the USB ports that are just USB2.0, and that still doesnt help, i have even disabled the USB3 driver within the BIOS.

Same error message, may help... quote...

I had the same issue with a 16GB micro SD card I was using to transfer a 13 GB file. Same exact message. Here is what I did to fix it. First of all make sure the HDD is formatted to NTFS. I believe the default is either FAT or FAT32. Then right click on the HDD in "My Computer". Then click on "properties". Click the "Hardware" tab. Hilight the drive and then click on "Properties". Click on the "Policies" tab. Now there should be two choices. Click the second bubble "Optimized For Performance". Click "OK". Click "Apply" and exit out of "My Computer. Try to transfer the files. Should work now.

I'm running Vista Ultimate 64Bit. Worked for me. Good luck!!
