Ok so I have a mid-range gaming PC. It's by no means top of the line but it does what it needs to do.
Spec:
i7 4790 @ 3.8
16gb DDR3 3800 CL11
Strix GTX 1070 OC 8gb
Samsung EVO SSD
I cannot decide what monitor would be best suited for gaming! I have decided on a gsync monitor.. but!
I can run the majority of my games @ 1080 in Ultra and get anywhere between 100 and 130fps. If I drop the quality to High, then all my games run @ 140fps+. Tried a friends monitor and @1440 or 4k, I get around 90fps on high, around 60fps on Ultra.
So, I cannot decide on:
144hz 1080p monitor, run all my games @1080p, High, 144 gsync
or
60hz 1440/4k monitor, run all my games @1440 or 4k, High settings, 60 gsync
It should be noted that the only PC multiplayer games I play are racing games such as F1 2018, Forza, the odd co-op shooter and Action games like Elite Dangerous. I do NOT play fps's like COD, Battlefield etc, I play these on console.
I'm leaning towards 144hz monitor, 1080p on Ultra and enjoy the silky 100+ fps, drop to "high" on games that struggle.
If I've said something dumb then I apologise, I've been researching this stuff and "hope" I've got a grasp on the difference between refresh, vsync, gsync, 1440, 4k etc!
Please don't recommend any kind of hardware upgrade, my budget can just about stretch to a new monitor... not a new mobo/cpu/gfx card no matter how much I wish it could
Anyone able to give me some pointers / pro's / cons?
