Im reaaalllllly confused at the moment.

Currently wanting to upgrade my motherboard and CPU but i cant for the life of me choose between AMD or Intel.

I'd either have the AMD FX-9370 4.4GHz or Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz

I have had recommendations for both. I will be using it for games such as BF4, WoT, Crysis 3 and others as and when they are released.

Can you please help shed some light on the matter and help me pick a side

Will one be better futureproofing than the other ?

If i were to go down the I5 route i would be getting MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard

Maybe a silly question, but would it matter if i did opt for Intel having a Radeon R9 GPU and should i swap it out for an Intel One ?

Intel don't do graphics cards anyway - you have no choice but to pair their CPUs with a GPU from 'another team'. Which is probably for the best :)

I'd either get a 8320 instead of a 9370 and overclock it manually (there's loads of guides for Piledrivers) or just get the i5.

A 8320+ is can cope well with modern games and perform equally, or slightly behind, a 4670K. Getting this processor or the 8350 might be able to save you some money for a better GPU. Though if you plan to play games like MMOs then the Intel is a better buy than the AMD.

BF4 uses more cores

Indeed, but even then it doesn't give the FX's an edge over an overclocked i5 (An overclocked FX that is)

Plus with Mantle, the "Using more cores" becomes even more moot.

WoT on the other hand will show a difference between the i5 and FX, to the favour of the i5.

Depends on you budget for the rest of the system a bit.

Ignore the fx-9370. As previously suggested, the 8320 is the one to get, then overclock up to ~4.5ghz.

FX8320 is £50 cheaper than the i5, and if that gets you from a £100 GPU to a £150 one, then that's the way to go. If your GPU budget is £250+ already, then get the i5: it's better for gaming generally.

CPU: Intel Core i5-750S 2.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: Asus P7P55D Pro ATX LGA1156 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory ($142.99 @ Newegg) (New)
Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($86.00 @ Adorama) (New)
Storage: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($97.98 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($75.75 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 2GB Tri-X Toxic Video Card ($239.99 @ Newegg) (New)
Case: Cooler Master Cosmos S ATX Full Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair Professional 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($139.99 @ TigerDirect)

This is my build so far. New items i have bought recently have (new) next to them, so as you can see i recently purchased a new GPU :( although i have been told that Sapphire was probably the wrong one to get.

I dont have a large budget, was hoping to get both the Motherboard and CPU for no more than 300. Preferably around 270 if i can help it

You should have posted first really.
Make sure you've got a decent high end cooler and overclock your CPU, there's little point switching out your CPU if you overclock it.

You should have got a higher end GPU, I see no reason to change the rest of the PC from how it currently is.

well i had a budget in my head for the rest of the PC as i thought i would be upgrading all of it hence why i didn't overspend on a GPU. I could still perhaps just invest in a better GPU and CPU cooler now and sell on the one i got now. Could be an option

Besided im not guru when it comes to overclocking, so i used the motherboards generic overclocking tool before and my system just kept crashing

That's a low-power i5, so will slow you down a bit with the low clock speed - for a cheap boost, I would buy a Lynnfield i7: they're about £50 on a popular auction site and it will drop straight in to your mobo. Overclocked, you'll perform pretty close to a modern i5 (better in multi-threaded tasks).

This, something like an i7-860 if you can find one for a good price would make a cost effective upgrade for your current system and would allow you to overclock. If the 750S can be overclocked though, I'd say just do that.

This is a good idea + a decent cooler + a better GPU or add another if you prefer.
