can't decide on a case.

Hi,

I have my pc pretty much specced, just need to sort case and monitor.

i5 750
8gb corsair ram 12800 ddr3
h50 cooler
x650 seasonic psu
gigabyte p55a- ud3 or ud3r mobo
3 x sammy f1s 1tb
sony bd rw ide
gfx either 5450 or 4550 ( depending which runs cooler etc)

i want a nice silver case, i like fractal design titanium but its rather big, i like the lian li v351s but worried about heat and whether everything would fit in.

I won't be overclocking as i do not game, this is an all rounder not just htpc case. yes i know to some the ram is overkill, already have all those things apart from gfx, mobo. will add an ssd when prices come down.

Can anyone advise whether id be able to get away with the cube style case with this spec or whether i need to go for the fractal case. also open to other suggestions. thanks.
 
ok im adding the antec mini p180 into the mix, similar looks to the fractal but a lot smaller, still holds 6 or more hdds, unsure how the h50 will fit in it and thinking with the 200mm fan that should sort the heat out.
did really want a usb3/sata3 mobo though and cant see one on m-atx

Sounds like you don't want the case to be too big but with H50 coolers I'm not sure how much space you'd need to fit them in. The cube style should be out of the question considering it wouldn't allow the H50 cooler to fit in I don't think. I can't say for sure if you'd be able to fit in the h50 cooler though as I don't know how much space it takes sorry. You could try and send a webnote or something asking the overclockers staff and if the fractal fits it in I'd go for it.

As for the graphics cards the 5450 should run cooler, the new 5xxx's are cooler running, quieter and more energy efficient than the 4xxx's.
 
yep def going for the 5450 as soon as theres a passive one in stock ovc only hav the fan cooled one atm.

case wise, argh im still confused, torn between going for a tower and dealing with it being on my floor, an htpc style and have to store it on the desk or tryin to go with a cube and not being sure about the heat and noise issue, driving myself demented if not everyone else!

some of the htpc cases seem to hav room for 6 hdds and run silent, this could be the way to go. def want usb 3 and sata 3 though so m-atx so far isnt an option.
 
good question, in all honesty id go upto 200 for a decent one possibly more if it ticks all the boxes, but id like to spend as little as possible obviously.
