Looking to upgrade my old monitors. Don't laugh, but I currently have the Edirol MA-10D's but have had them for a very long time and they sounded not too bad at the time, but anyway....

Now cant decide on the KRK Rokit RP5 G3's (roughly £220) or Adam F5's (roughly £280).

I'l be doing the normal, mosic, movies, gaming.

I have the Adam F5s and I strongly recommend them. They are great for a range of things like you mentioned. They will amaze every time you hear them, providing the audio is good quality of course :p

They are a great size to fit on a desk, this doesn't mean they lack power as believe me they can easily fill a large room and that's with the volume not even full.

Whichever you go with I'd recommend treating your room acoustics as it'll make a big difference. These speakers we are talking about are very capable and the only way to get the best out of them is in a proper room that has acoustic treatment.

Of course you don't have to do it right away but I would recommend it in future. For now either speaker will blow you away but I'd go with the Adam F5 of course even reviews say they are one of the best or the best around for that price :)

You can order them just won't get them straight away :p It's interesting actually not sure quite what the concept is, maybe Adam build them on order or send them after? One thing is for sure though they certainly know how to make a good speaker :p So worth the wait I would say :)

Wow wasn't expecting the wait to be that long! Have you tried all available retailers?

Edit: Just had a google they are available at one place, it says 'Estimated delivery to you Mon 06/10/14'. I'd have another look if I were you ;)

How do the A3X compare to the F5s? Apart from the smaller driver. Aren't they meant to be a step up?

I would expect the F5 to have a better low range. I haven't listened to the A3x so can't really comment but yes they are meant to be a step above. Difference would probably be minimal especially in an untreated room as it'll get to a point you won't hear any difference between top speakers unless you get acoustic treatment.

Have you considered a pair of genelecs? They are considered some of the best near field monitors in the low to medium price brackets. Though, with all of these small format speakers you'll potentially want to invest in a sub. Before making a purchase make sure you have a listen to all of these monitors at a local retailer, to get the best from them you'll also want to invest in some acoustic panals to control the sound in your room.

I've used genelecs and Adam speakers in several studios and my personal thought is that Adams are way to bright, genelecs on the other hand are really nice and well rounded.

"In a Facebook exchange posted on 11 November, ADAM Audio replied to a customer that “we have serious delivery problems, this also applies for spare parts”. ADAM expects to resume deliveries of product in the January."

So ADAM have investors and will have stock Jan 2015.
