Hi Guys,

moving house and smashed my old monitor (that i have been wanting to upgrade for a while:D:D)

wife says yes...

SO....currently i had the syncmaster B2230 which i was happy with somewhat but am now looking at a larger size possibly wanting a 120/144MHz screen. for reference i have a MSI TwinFrozr II GTX580, i was wanting high refresh rate and low MS response times im not that savvy anymore with IPS/TN etc etc

as i understand it my 60Hz on a 22" is **** and i can get better, i do want a 27" but i'll have to sacrifice something to get there with decent colours/res/contrast.

i have been looking at these for 27"

AOC I2757FM 27 inch Widescreen IPS LED Multimedia Monitor.
BenQ GW2760HS
Acer S275HLBMII

if i cant find a decent gaming one at 27" i'll drop to 24" for higher refresh rate

The difference between the two 24" AOCs:
Ergonomic stand (pivot being the most notable benefit)
USB hub
(not sure about other aspects, but the small price difference and similar product numbers would indicate this is all there is to them)

As for 144Hz in general (note: Hz, not MHz):
Nowadays they are so cheap that it's difficult to say no. But for the time being 144Hz also means TN panels. There is one 24" monitor with a 120Hz VA panel, but that still costs quite a lot (£320, currently one B-grade for £240).

To put it in perspective:
TN brings compromises (viewing angle, color/image quality), but it's still faster for gaming. Six months ago I would have said that you'd be better off with IPS or VA, even for gaming. But that £170 is indeed quite a good price for 144Hz. Though personally, I would STILL stay away from TN. I've had a habit of suggesting the BenQ GW2760HS, which you seem to have your eyes on, too. I haven't yet heard anyone come back complaining... It does have a very low input lag, but it isn't usually touted as a gaming monitor, but more of an jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none.
