OK well i have a ATI 1650 256 and it plays my current games fine.

I'm not obsessed in getting new hardware but i do like playing games and at the same time i want the best quality.

A friend whom has just bought a second hand rig was going to sell me his 8800 GTS 320mb for £100 (good friend :) ) and get the GTX, but now with all this DX10.1 crap now hes going to wait until the 9800 series are out, pffft....

Well that means i can wait untill he gets the GTX in November ~ December and hope i can play Bioshock on medium settings or get the OCUK 1950pro to put me on.

If i sell my 1650 id expect to get £30~£35 so its only another £40 for the 1950 so not too bad i guess.

So if i get the 1950 will that play Bioshock, Crysis ok? Until i ever get a 8800 GTS or better?

Early indications from what i am aware are that a 1950pro should play Bioshock & Crysis ok, but dont expect high details. Apparently a Bioshock demo is out soon so you could wait & hear from some people who try it out. Anyway the OcUK 1950pro is a smashing buy at the moment & a big upgrade from the card you have.
 
i would say buying the 8800 card.

the dx10.1 is only a small update from dx10.. games won't be using dx10.1 till about 9monrths after dx10.1 is released..

Personally if i was your mate i would be keeping the gts also as moving upto
a gtx is an upgrade but not a massive upgrade which i am sure the 9800s
will be. 1950pro will be a decent upgrade for you but as said it will play
bioshock but not at high settings not even sure about medium just need to
wait and see when its released or from the demo.
