Can't decide which card from these two

I don't know which to get out of these two cards, I'll be running a single monitor at 1920 x 1080 resolution, power consumption and noise difference between the two are of no concern to me, I'm only interested in the performance difference.

If any of you could help me to decide that'd be brilliant thanks :)

Sapphire HD 7970 VAPOR-X GHZ 3072MB £389.99 inc VAT

MSI GeForce GTX 680 OC Twin Frozr 2048MB £419.99 inc VAT

As both cards are overclocked slightly, for arguments sake, assume that they're both overclocked by the same percentage over stock.

In summary, both perform very well and both also offer overclocking headroom to go further. It looks like the games you play favour nVidia slightly but the margins are pretty small.

MSI have far superior warranty support should anything go wrong.

Neither.

670 Windforce, cheaper than both, performs just as well as both.

Almost as well. A Ghz Edition will go above and beyond 670 levels of performance with an overclock. As will a 680. But the margins of difference are tiny and yes, a better value for money purchase most definitely lies with the 670.

I'm skeptical of most 680/670 benches, most don't show the actual boost clock, they just state what boost it says in the product description. The WF I had, had a stock boost of near 1200mhz, which was beyond stock 680 performance - This is all by luck though I must stress.

IMO you must be VERY unlucky not to get ~stock 680/7970 performance out of a 670 WF, even with a mild OC.

For me the 670 is the best value card out atm.

Agreed. Although the WF 7950's/7970's are tasty at their sale prices as well.

They are indeed, its worth mentioning that OcUK are having a HUGE sale on AMD cards atm ;)

Of all the cards the only one atm (for me) that doesn't represent any kind of value for money is the 680. The 7950 at its new price point (~£240), 670 at ~£300 & 7970's creeping below the £330 mark are all good value. For me the 680 reference would have to crash down towards £350 to become a viable purchase but we all know thats not going to happen for a long time yet.

Edit: Well thats new, type AMD and it auto creates a link to OcUK's AMD products.

According to the andandtech bench's it's like 10 fps worse on average

Thats stock 670 vs the new GHz edition 7970.

A Windforce 670 is around 5% + - a stock 680 (well according to a bunch or reviews I read when the card was first released)

I take it your in the market for a top of the line GPU?

How about these instead:

Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7970 Windforce 3X
Sapphire HD 7970 OC
KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC 2048MB
KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC 4096MB

I reckon these are better value.

Just noticed this as well

VTX3D HD 7970 X-Edition 3072MB
