Hi, I'm in a bit of a pickle as to what motherboard to get with my new build. These are the main components which are pretty much final:

CPU: Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz (Lynnfield)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 460 715Mhz 1GB GDDR5 OC Edition
Mem: Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz

I want a SATA 6Gb/s & USB3.0 board so it's either one of the following:

- Asus P7P55D-E LX Intel P55 or
- Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R or UD4

I'll be hoping to oc the i5 to 4GHz so want something stable and solid. I was leaning towards the Gigabyte until I read that if SATA3 or USB3 is used then the graphics card drops from 16x to 8x. But as I understand it this only happens if used in CrossFireX or SLI? As I will only stay with the one card will there still be a performance drop? In the real world would I even notice? Also reports of a slight whining sound when you move the mouse/access the HDD etc. but apparently this can be fixed in the bios.

I've always gone with Asus in the past and is cheaper than the Gigabyte. I just want a board that won't give me grief or crash all the time when I oc the CPU. What one would you go for or is there another?

Any thoughts much appreciated. :)

ps. the Asus Maximus III is way out of my price range

I still get confused with the vast number of boards available!

Ok, just read up some more. Seems like the Asus P7P55D-E Pro could be a winner (although OC do not sell them for some reason). This board will allow SATA3/USB3 and full 16x bandwidth (unlike the Gigabyte) so that's good. One downer is one user here experienced a lot of dreadful issues with this board and wanted to swap it for something else! I guess nothing is perfect. More reading for me tonight...
