I've just bought a new TV yesterday, Toshiba 42X3030D 42" 1080p. :)

I have my 360 plugged in to it using the official VGA Cable and the picture is fantastic when running in 1360x768 but when I try changing the resolution to 1920x1080 the pictures goes all strange with odd colours.

I'm not sure if the problem is with the TV or Xbox 360.
Anyone know of any settings that need to be changed for this to work.

Thanks

I've got a feeling the X series only do WXGA which is 1360x768. I don't even think the Z series has 1920x1080 by VGA. Although I would like to proven wrong on that.

EDIT: Just checked. Even the latest Z models only do WXGA via VGA, too.

Thanks.

Quite annoyed now as I have a old 360 which doesn't have HDMI. Would there be anyone of connecting it up to get a 1080p display.
VGA - DVI adapter then DVI - HDMI Adapter? Would that work.

Will it not do it through the component cable?

If you are only using games on it,then i wouldn't worry too much about 1080p anyway. You won't see a difference.

I have that very TV and it was one of the reasons I upgraded to an Elite for HDMI.
You can always use component to connect then you can use 1080p as it's only over VGA that it's restricted.

However you won't get upscaled DVDs over Component (blame the DVDforum).

Thanks.

Dont worry, on a 360 unless you are playing HD-DVD's there is no real benefit in running 1080p.

exactly, I dont know of a single 1080p game for the 360, some of the biggest and best games arnt even proper 720p, this gen just isnt capable of smooth detailed graphics at those resolutions yet, so stick it to 720p and enjoy.
