Netgear DG834GT 108mbps wireless router
Netgear WG311T 108Mbps Wireless NIC
Belkin 54Mbps Wireless Notebook NIC
win xp on all the machines

just got a Belkin F5D7001UK for my shutttle but it can't see my network. i have to install the belkin software or the NIC appears as not installed. the problem is the software fights with the windows software, ive tried disabling one or the other and entering the network details but neither pick up my network. my comp next to it has full signal.

security is WPA and MAC filtering

what am i doing wrong ?

Does the Belkin software disable the Wireless Zero Configuration Service?

Start>Run> type 'services.msc' and hit return.

Scroll down to the service and see what its current state is.

I assume the router is setup to broadcast its SSID?

the wzc service was running, it's taken me a lot of fiddling to find out it has something to do with broadcasting the SSID as having it turned off the status says connected but i can't ping the router or get online. the signal strength fluctuates between exellent and very good but it never connect at more than 11mbps :(

turn the SSID on dude.

identifies the network you want to connect to. If you have more than one WLAN then to connect to that access point it must have the same SSID.

hope that helps

only have 1 WLAN and no others detected from surrounding flats

i have turned SSID on as the wireless status was connected but i couldnt get online or ping the router untill the SSID was turned on.

what im trying to figure out now is why it only connects at 11mbps even though i have an exellent signal and the router is set to auto 108mbps.
