Hey, basicly i wanted to format my HDD today, generally i use Killdisk.exe on a startup formatted floppy and format that way. But when i try to execute killdisk it never loads. I tried the KillDisk ISO and that loads but when i choose the format option my screen turns into a mass of scrolling errors. I tried the windows XP Pro CD, i get past the bit for my F6 drivers and at the bottom left it tells me "starting windows install" but never does, just freezes.

Recently i bought a AMD X2 4400+ (939) and a Evga 7950GT OC 1Gb. Just wanted to format for a fresh install but its just not happening.

Ive got a DFI LanParty UT SLi-D board
WD 120gb SATA II
Xf-Fi Music

any surgestions?

I dont know tbh,

What i'd really do is juust erase partition with partitionmagic and create a new one after its done....

OR

I'd boot up with winxpCD and do quick format there...

If those 2 wouldnt work, i'd start ms dos and just format there....

hhmmm may look like ive got a HDD problem. formatting straight from the winxpcd doesnt work because durin the message "starting windows install" or whatever it says it just freezes.
