Hey guys,

The PSU works and powers the fans LED strip etc When papeclipped, but when the 24 pin is plugged into the mobo, it doesn't work.

I'm pretty certain it's all wire up correctly; is there any way to check the switches are all working?

Mobo is MSI G41M-P28/P26
Q6600 stock
4GB RAM
CX430 PSU
Case is CM430 elite

It's probably me just overlooking simethig, but there are no signs of life when the PSU isn't clipped. Any help would be appreciated :)

try putting the reset button onto the power and see if you can switch it on with the reset button if you think its a faulty switch

I'd rather leave that as the very last resort.

I'm hoping it's just a power switch issue

With it plugged in the case, have you you tried removing the power switch headers and shorting the power switch pins? It removes the need of the switch if that is indeed faulty. If the mobo has its own power switch on it, don't use that, use the header pins otherwise you are not fully testing if the case power switch works or not, as you are then not even using the header pins.

How would I go about shorting the pins?

EDIT- reset switch not working :(

Pull the header plug off the header pins, then using something conductive to touch them both, at the same time.. Like a screwdriver(be gentle!) or coin, pin, nail, metal watch strap ................

All working after giving the switch a bash

Pics coming soon :)

Good good :)

Had some similar before, where I couldn't get the PC past POST'ing. Turns out the power switch was jamed on and every so often when I had to turn it off and on again, it would turn on, then jam, and cause the pc not to POST. Once I had spent hours trying to figure out the random non-POST'ing of the PC that I knew worked fine, I kicked the front of the case which unstuck the switch.... never been a problem since :p

Is that the stuff you were going to sell to me?

Just the CPU, rest is potentially faulty, you're still welcome to it (email me in trust if interested and well take it to MM)

Would have done more with cable management, but the case has virtually no options for cable management at all and the PSU cables weren't long enough to take round the back. If I had to change anything, it'd certainly be some extensions for the 6 pin cables as they look terrible but this build was done as cheaply as possible so we didn't have as much money to play around with things that were "unnecessary" as I am otherwise used to.

Overall though, my friends more than happy with it and infact loves the "messy" look, I think it's mainly the red he's transfixed by xD

ANY COMMENTS/CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM WELCOME :)
