for some reason i cant get both monitors to display a picture at the same time. when windows loads up it only detects my primary monitor and i cant even see the second monitor but if i unplug the primary monitor then the second monitor comes on right away.

the card has dl-dvi-d*2 / HDMI / Display Port

im currently using 1 of the dvi slots and a hdmi slot as i dont have 2 of the same dvi connectors. is this the reason why they both wont show at the same time ? on my old card i was running 2x mini dp so i never tried to run 2 seperate connectors.

the second display doesent even show up in the display list or in the screen resolution menu unless i unplug the first display

if i unplug the first monitor and reboot so the second display is the main display and then wait until desktop and plug the first monitor back in then both monitors appear but once the system is shutdown you have to repeat the entire process again next time and the back of my computer is hard to get to so its a pain in the ass

Monitors are syncmasters B2430 and SA550 the monitors worked fine with my 7970 but i had 2x mini display ports with them

yes thats correct and unofrtunately i only have one dvi-d, im going to purchase another and test it but i dont see why i cant run multiple monitors with 2 different types of connectors

I had the same problem when I bought my 280, all I done was reinstall the Catalyst drivers and then select dual monitors in windows screen resolution.

Nor me.

From the OP I thought you had 2 DVI connectors.

Try reinstalling the drivers as suggested above.

The gpu has 2x dvi-d 1x dp and 1x hdmi so i use 1x dvi and 1x hdmi at the moment as i dont have 2x dvi. i think the cables are only £3 so ill buy one and try it. if it solves the problem its better than racking my brain all day :D

What do you mean select dual monitors in SR ? im in there now but i dont see anything about Dual Monitors, i can only see one of my monitors in there after restarting

Ah...

I was suggesting you just try swapping the DVI cable you are using from one connector to the other on the graphics card.
