Cant get COD4 or GOW to work

I Brought both the above today and while they both installed o.k I cannot get either of them to boot.

COD4 brings up the first splash screen and crashes to desktop straight away and GOW crashes to desktop when reaching the menu screen with Microsof Visual C++ Runtime error!! :mad:

Help!!

I have Visual c++ 2005 x64 already installed and 169.04 beta drivers

I had the same problem. If you're running an ATI card, I suggest you Roll Back the driver as it won't work with the latest drivers.

I cannot get GOW to work either :S

As far as I know a lot of people are having problems with GOW (PC), it mainly crashes, All I know that on vista 64bit it runs fine as long as you right click it - run as administrator.
I heard there is a patch coming soon to fix these issues...

Same for me, but on XP.

If your talking about GoW, it works fine on my ati card with the latest drivers.

PC gaming really can have it down times sometimes, 2 games released today 2 games that wont work!......Sometimes really makes you want to turn into a Console Fanboy!

Ive been on forums all evening trying to find if people managed to resolve the same problems :mad:

To be honest, that has always come with the territory of PC gaming, I have encountered problems in the past, Google is your friend. There has never been a game that I have not been able to get to work within a an hour or so!

Have you checked your sound card and drivers? i installed cod 4 nd my sound card blummin disappeared and the drivers had to reseat the card and reinstall the rivers.

I have got COD4 working now, uninstalled and reinstalled and the single play game would work, did it again and got both SP and MP working, weird :confused:

On gow goto gow dir\binairies then right click the "startup" create shortcut to desktop then right click it and set to run as adminitrator, this fixed the loading problem for me.
