OK so I have 2 sapphire 290 tri-X cards, on a z87x-oc mobo, 4770k processor and 16gb teamgroup 2133mhz ram. I did have the processor and ram overclocked to 4.5 and 2400 but have taken those of for now, so I am at stock for everything, inc the gfx cards.
Crossfire refuses to work. I can see the stats thanks to rivatuner when i'm playing games and it never leaves idle state. playing bf4 even with scaling set to 200% it doesnt fire up, I just get frame rates dropping to high 20's.

I have now updated the mobo bios to f7 from f3, done a full driver sweep and re-installed catalyst 14.3 drivers for the cards, and enabled mantle in bf4. still nothing.

Crossfire is enabled in ccc.

What else can I try?

Have you tried switching the cards about? Run something like Heaven and valley to see if CF is working in those.

well...told you it was a stupid question....so no need for a bridge to run crossfire on new cards then...times have changed...I can see why I stick with Nvidia lol

It is only the 290 series that does not use bridges.

Most of the other new AMD cards are just rebadged 7 series cards so still use them for example the 280X and HD 7970 are the same card and can be crossfired together.

Disabling ULPS and perhaps enabling the "show AMD Crossfire icon" jobby in the task bar of Catalyst.

This displays a little Crossfire box whenever you are playing games with it enabled so you know for sure if it is on. As others have said use MSI Afterburner to check both cards are performing.

yea thx mate...just read up about it...will teach me to not post in future without the facts ;)

OK, thanks for suggestions so far.

I have re-checked the disable ULPS - must have got de-selected when I re-installed the drivers.

Q: How do I turn on the crossfire enabled logo?

Just run valley and crossfire is now working - must have been the ULPS I think.

ULPS was definitely disabled prior to me updating the drivers though, but I am just glad its working as intended now.

Time to give BF4 another go..
