Can't get display right.. colours terrible

I have just done a clean install of Windows 7 64 on a new SSD.

Previously I was running xp but my OS drive failed so thought it was time for a upgrade.

The display looked great under XP but with W 7 all the colour is washed out and the monitor is very bright.

The hardware is a 8800gts 512 in a Asus P5K basic/green and a Q6600 running at 3.2 the only other things are the SSD and a Creative X-fi.

The only driver issue is the lack of 64 bit asus driver for the P5k but the stock W7 seems to be ok

I have tried loads of brightness / contrast / gamma tweaks but still the display looks terrible.

Display driver is 8.17.12.8562 but it was just as bad with the windows 7 out of the box drivers
 
Someone moved this to graphics cards, i had stuck it in GH because i'am not sure its graphics card related
 
I have just reinstall XP and the colour is spot on.

This seems to be an issues with W7 and my graphics card
