Just put in the sony optiarc 7260s but the light on the front of it is on constantly, but when i press the button on the front of the tray, or select the drive on my computer it makes a noise but doesn't open?

I didn't get any software with it or anything.

Sounds like it's borked mate. Can you try manually releasing the tray by inserting a bent paper clip into the little hole on the left/right hand side? The access light shouldn't be on steady either. What happens if you remove the data cable so it's just getting power? Light still staying on solid?

With just the power cable in the light is still constantly on. Pressing the button results in the noise of the motors working to open/close it but with no opening or closing.

Thing is, it was really badly packaged when I retrieved it from inside my garage (where I asked dpd man to leave it). It had slipped out of the bubble wrap and the only thing between it and the hard floor was a very thin layer of plastic covering the bubble wrap - so no protection at all. I noticed the top corner of the drive bay had a chip in the plastic but didn't think it would affect it although it appears now, this may be a sign of it being dropped without much protection at all :/

This is the second optiarc I've got from OCUK this week, I had to RMA the first because the back and front of the casing were completely bent despite it being very well packaged and in a box.

So am I right in assuming I'm going to have to RMA this one too?

Well tbh I'm now hesitant about asking for a replacment with another. I think I'll be getting a refund and going for an LG instead.
