can't get Far Cry cheats to work ??

"E:\Games\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -devmode :)

And frankly, I don't see that it's anyone else's business if somebody chooses to cheat in a single-player game.

by asking for help he made our business and we are then going to put our opinion forward. As you can see ive no problem with it once youve finished the game otherwise i see its as a waste of money and a waste of a good game, however, that hasnt stopped me from trying to help!

That's rubbish. Question = answer. Why people have to get into to this holier than thou debate and thus I must cleanse your soul defies logic. Just give an inpartial answer and let him lead his own life.

I used the "E:\Games\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -devmode and then while in game press the ` button and wrote in god / giveall / etc

Dont know what some peoples problems with cheating is, some people find it more exciting/easier/quicker who cares if you do it in single player doesn't affect you does it

I tried to use the cheats last year some time but did'nt get them to work, i did'nt spend much time trying tho admititly.

Only reason i wanted to cheat was i was not to far from the end of the game but lost the game save as i had some problems with the PC at the time so just could'nt be bothered to get to same place again, i only wanted to select the level i was on to carry on.

Im gonna have to try this again and finaly complete the game :D

sorry to jump in on thread!
but i was just wondering if Far Cry has a good online community, because im sure i have heard that it sucked online..

Have any of you tried the last level of far cry?

TBH, I doubt many people have completed it without using the chair trick (jam it in the door so you can get back to the armoury). Its such a solid final section.

i read about that AFTER doing the last level

it is stupidly difficult though, thats not a cheat as such though just a glitch :p

You see, that to me is a perfectly fine reason for wanting to use the cheats, you had already reached a set point and due to a problem lost your save game.

I was always taught that if you want to get better at something, you keep trying until you do it, you dont cheat. You will never get any better. Thats why i dont like cheating.

As for x1m, i am entitled to an opinion as are you are we are both entitled to voice our opinions, as we have both have done. However, the difference is ive actually tried to help the OP and you havent.

could anyone advise re. my earlier posts about FarCrys multiplayer community.

Cheers.

I know it was popular when it was first out but im sure one of my friends said its been dying out over the last few months but if you look around you can still get some really good games.

Better wait for someone still playing to confirm though. :)

If the cheats dont affect multiplayer then its his business. A game should be as enjoyable as you want. If you want all the weapons now then thats upto him. I dont mind cheating if its only for fun and during single player.

I would advice to play a game fully without cheating first but once done then thats fine. Infact I think once a game is finished the option to do so should be made avialable to you.

There was nothing for me to say as enough help had been given on the subject. The point I'm making is he asked for help and it was turned into a moral debate, which was imo unnecessary. Also, you seem to state your opinion as fact :p

Maybe try the "devmode" bit in all caps, since that's how it seems to be listed on other sites?

That's fair enough, but to me, I simply feel that anybody has the right to play a game of theirs however they like, especially single-player (since his actions don't affect anyone else). He spent his money on the game, and can frankly do what he likes with it after that. Never play it, play it 50 times over, or cheat his heart out. What if cheating actually helps him to play further into the game than he would have managed if he hadn't and had gotten frustrated by the difficulty early on, and given up straight away? Not to mention the fact that he's only using weapon cheats after all, so he's still vulnerable within the game, and no amount of weapon cheats will stop the enemy from circling behind you and capping you.

As it happens, I agree with you, I generally prefer to play a game through without cheats, as it spoils the game for me, but I don't go out of my way to tell others whether they should do the same or not. I've got to echo x1m here. The holier than thou attitude that people on this forum love to preach really gets to me. Heaven forbid anyone admits to doing anything that others might not do themselves, or we end up with large threads of people piling into the issue for no good reason (see case in point). Thus I see it as "none of our business" if it doesn't affect us. Live and let live. :)

That's a bit rich, considering it took you three posts before you helped, and it's obvious from the discussion going on that the thread has mutated beyond a simple help thread.

perhaps I'll write a letter to the Pope asking him the Church's view on cheating in Far Cry..... I'm not religious but he might be able to help....

perhaps it may lead onto worse things.... gambling, drug abuse, murder..... who can tell ? ;)

Nothing wrong with people using cheats in SP games. There's no law against it, despite what the gaming ethic police might have you believe :)

At the end of the day gaming is all about having fun, and for some people they will have more fun if they use a cheat (even if that mentality goes against your personal findings).
