can't get into bios or install win 8 (new build)

As the title says I have completed the build and I thought everything was good to go. However, as I boot up the computer it will stay on the screen where it gives you the option to go into the bios which I can't as the keyboard eg delete f12 and so on don't respond despite me pressing them. I have even tried a ps2 keyboard. To add if I leave this it will go to a blank screen despite the dvd drive reving up. And then it all goes blank and nothing happens.

I presume that the mobo (gigabyte ga-z77-d3h) needs a bios update? So I thought I would install windows via another computer onto the ssd. However, I can't do this as its asking me to activate the copy or is it just asking me to put the key in? If I don't have the net plugged in it can't activate can it? Any ideas people?
 
The build consists of the mobo above
3570k
120gb ssd Samsung
corsair carbide 200r

I have reset the cmos via a screw driver touching both pins together.
 
did you try spamming the button before the bios tells you to? I usually just spam tap the button as the comp boots because some mobo's I've had in the past only gave a really small window to enter the bios and it's easily missed.

I don't suppose you are making the simple error of presisng backspace instead of the delete key?

gigabyte do an online update in windows if your desperate
