I've just built a new comp
Q6600
Abit Ip35-Pro
BFG 8800GTX OC
Corsair 620HX

Wel i've built it up fine........and it gets into bios fine and finds all the HDDs fine........Everything seems fine.

i then let it try boot up and the Windows XP screen comes up (with the loading bar......) then about 3 seconds later.......i get a split second of a blue screen........no way of me knowing what it said!!:confused: and it restarts :(

my current windows XP installation is on the IDE drive (moving to sata 150GB raptor)
and i've tried different jumper settings on the drive but to no avail.

i did notice one thing on the LED POST code on the mobo.....it says 75 which means to "detect and install all the IDE drives: HDD, KLS120, ZIP, CDROM" (the mobo manual says)
im lost..........how do i detect and install the ide drive???

please help!!!

edit:
just seen this on the abit website http://www2.abit.com.tw/faq/code.html
1. Clear CMOS
2. Check cable
3. Check IDE device connector or change other PATA/ SATA devices
4. Wait for a longer time (10~20 minutes) to detect device

number 4 says to wait for a longer time.........Wait were abouts?? in the bios??, if i just leave it, it will go to try and boot and crash and restart.

You installed windows when you bluit the new system, my guess is that you did?

Why not just move to the raptor and reinstall windows on that drive.

maybe you can set the time of delay for the harddrive like 10 seconds in the bios?

Try also one stick of memory in a different slot and have just one harddrive connected and take out any PCI cards etc.

My guess is at the bar of windows is when it detects your system hardware.

had same problem... take out half your ram... if it doesnt happen after, download memtest and test your ram (need to make a boot cd). if its fine, i guess you need a more powerful PSU. try unplugging case fans / lights and anything you dont actually need.

fixed it for me

other thing... reinstall windows. your old windows is probally configured for your old hardware? this has also happened with me yesturday. had to reinstall vista and it worked again

I would go with Joes diagnosis, if you didn't reinstall windows then that is likely to be your problem.

It seems like there is a demand for it, so over the next couple of days, time at work permitting, I'll post a guide on how to use Sysprep. It's an ever so handy and very simple tool.

For users who are habitual reinstallers (nothing like the smell of a fresh OS), then sysprep can be your best friend.

Sounds like the windows installation or the RAM. As other people have said, try each seperate stick of RAM in each slot of the mobo and see what happens.

yea it was late last night, so couldn't do too much. I tried it with one RAM stick in DIMM1 and it still crashed.
Had vista and my raptor delivered today so will start a fresh on there with fresh install.
Will i have problems accessing data from my IDE (current windows) when i connect it up after installing windows on the raptor??
it should just show up as another HDD, right?

i really really REALLY do not want to loose anything from that IDE, loads of (legal) mp3s, game save files, movies, music projects lol etc. hopefully I'll be able to just copy all the stuff i need back.....gunna take a lot of sorting lol

like someone said........Fresh installs rule!!
Whats Sysprep anyway? (i'll google it myself as welll)

I haven't used Vista yet but you should still be able to access your data if you set your ide drive up as the secondary one.

Don't ow much about Vista, but when I moved from win2k on an ide drive to xp on a sata and booted from that, all my data was fully accessable. Just make sure you set to install/boot from the new drive, I'd even take out the old one when you're installing the o/s just in case!
