So when I turn on my PC, goes into Windows, the taskbar and desktop icons will appear for about 2 seconds and then they go away, leaving me with just the wallpaper. Started in safe mode and done virus/spyware check but still the same thing happens after I restart.

I don't know how to fix the problem but if you want your icons and taskbar back, get the task manager up and then go file>new task, then type in explorer. Mine did that before but it managed to fixed itself somehow.

Hold the Shift key while booting to prevent your normal startup apps' from starting.

that might help although i'm fairly sure that only stops programs in the startup folder from running? any windows service or a program launched from the registry will still run.....

:)

Yup, worth a shot though.

try a windows repair, maybe somethings become corrupt.

Doubtful a safe-mode works A-ok. My money's on it being some malware in startup...

Agree with you there, safe mode would be a no go to if there was some hardware fault i would have thought.

What loads when windows loads that doesnt in safe mode?....... take a look at those things.

Seen this happen when the wrong drivers are installed for a device to.
