Fallout 3.

I'm really sorry, really I am. I tried Oblivion when it came out and couldn't play that and now I can't play Fallout 3.

My reasons why.

Walking.... ugh boring.
Constant animals trying to eat me - Bye bye ammo
Leveling. So many numbers. So little care for them.

I suppose it comes down to the fact that it's a RPG and maybe I just can't play them. I just feel gutted as I spent £36 on this game, I wanted to enjoy it but I can't.

Anyone else the same or am I just a freak?

Don't get me wrong if you like RPGs this looks excellent. The graphics are great. So much dialogue.

Um, in the nicest way I can possibly say this: if you don't like RPGs don't buy them in the first place?

Just like I wouldn't advise buying PGR if you weren't a fan of racing games.

Hahahahaha you have Ocuk shiny new toy syndrome. A game came out of a type you dont even like yet you still had to buy it. :D

People like you (and me) are great for the members market ;)

lol. That's the thing though I have to buy into the hype because there is a chance I could be missing out.

I guess I will try and get store credit for it. Games I want coming up are Mirrors Edge, Farcry 2 (out) and Fable 2... wait... Fable... ugh oh lol

If you didnt like Oblivion you will not like this, its basically Oblivion with a post-apocalyptic skin.

Glad you said that because I hated Oblivion, for one everytime you enter a building or zone it takes ages to load it up.

Haha, fable is a lot less complicated RPG, you wander round whacking stuff and then decide if you wanna get better at whacking, shooting or magicy stuffs. Not much more complicated than that really. See how much you can get store credit and I'll match the offer for Fallout or trade you straight up for my recently finished Fable 2 :)

lol should probably consider renting before you buy?

I'm not a fan of RPG's my self. just tend to avoid them cos I get bored playing them very quickly, though after playing a friends copy of Mass Effect I had to go and buy it after lol, it's posisbly the only RPG I've actually enjoyed

Lol - Agreed, I've never been a great fan of RPG's either. Too much talking, too much pointless exploring and not enough action. However, I always get sucked into the hype and I've been buying the damn things since I was a teenager in the days of Ultima and Eye of the Beholder, hoping that each new one would introduce some kind of new gameplay concept that would change my mind.

Like an idiot I bought Fallout 3 and Fable 2 as they were both heavily hyped games. The Fable 2 disc has only been in my 360 for about an hour and is unlikely to ever go back in, and I got bored of Fallout 3 after the character creation sequence.

I'll admit I've got a short attention span - if a game doesn't hook me in the first 20 minutes then I usually won't bother carrying on.

I hated Oblivion, couldn't stand it, but i absolutely love Fallout 3.

It's nothing like oblivion imo, the Vat System and the fact it's an FPS make it a differant game.

OP, you have to get into the story and read nearly all the dialogue lines open to offer, that's the sole purpose of RPG's imo. Basically a story driven game. If the RPG has a naff story then i have no reason to play it, but if their are things to find out then im driven to carry on.

Btw you can teleport to cities once you have been to which is a big factor in Fallout 3 imo, mean's less walking time once i have discovered a city/village etc.

Yeah if you didn't like oblivion, it's very likely you won't like fallout allthough its not always the case ^^. I really like the way you can run out of ammo/health fairly easily though, really makes it feel like you're "surviving" in the vast wastes rather than it being another bland post appocalyptic shooter...

I loved Oblivion, but after probably 3+ hours I think Fallout 3 is cack in comparison. The only positive is VATS and even then you have to move through the game at a snails pace or you end up meeting super mutants carrying rocket launchers armed with nothing more than a couple of pistols and a baseball bat.

Oblivion was a far better balanced game imo.

I don't know whether you have played KOTOR but it is done by the same people as Mass Effect and was/is amazing.

Should be able to pick it up dirt cheap as it is an original xbox game

I found it really really hard to get into as well. I played oblivion etc so knew what i was getting into.

I think after about 6-7 hours of "trying to play it" and trying to get into it, it just finally clicked and I'm enjoying it now.

Thats a long time to get into enjoying a game, especially if theres others you can enjoy right of the bat! :)

i do have KOTOR actually on the PC. picked it up for a couple of quid a few years ago after seein loads of people raving on about it on here lol

I didn't like it at all but back then I was really into my FPS games which is probs why i didnt like it. After playin Mass Effect now I think it's time to go back and try KOTOR again :)
