Not sure if this is the right place for it but its a laptop.

I've just reinstalled windows xp pro, drivers, updates etc and office 2000. Everything is working fine but I have just noticed that when I press shift and ' instead of getting @ I get '' the language in control panel is all set the UK English. I didn't try it before installing office so not sure if its that thats causing the problem.

Also how do you search this forum for things that are less than 3 letters?

TIA

Make sure the keyboard settings are set to UK english as well as the language ones. After that, restart, as sometimes it doesn't work straight away.

Less than 3 characters? You don't.

How do I check the keyboard settings? just had a look in control panel but theres nothing to do with languages in there.

I just sussed it anyway, well when I say sussed, more like press every button on keyboard in notepad to see what happens. shift + ins gives me @@@@@@@@@@@@ IT WORKS!

Yeah three letters or less words, I tried to search for '@ key not working' but it came back saying (less than 3 letters and, word wont be found.) quite annoying really.
