Can't get mike to work!

I just purchased a Medusa 5.1 headset. The sound is great, but the mike doesn't seem to work. I'm running Vista32 Home Premium. I have tried the mike in the line in on both my x-fi fatality and my 680i's onboard device. No joy with either. The same goes for other microphones. I just can't seem to get the computer to "hear" me.

Seriously though, couldnt get a mic to work with my Fatality in Vista either, my advice, on board sound 4 the win!

i know this may sound stupid, but have you unmuted the mic in the sound properties/settings? i know a few people had trouble with mic's and this resolved the problem

I somehow managed to get it working. The X-fi control panel is fussy at best.
