Hi folks, have a GA-965P-DS3 with an E6300 which I have successfully overclocked to 3.2GHz stable with my RAM set to 5-5-5-15. But can't get it run stable (Orthos) with RAM at at 4-4-4-12.

The RAM is GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency.

CPU is at 1.375v, RAM is at 2.1v, others are +0.1v too.

Any ideas?

Thanks..........

It could just be the limit of your ram.

Most low latency 6400 at 4-4-4-12 won't do over 900 with the same tight settings although some chips do. It's pot luck really.

Try dropping the 5-5-5-15 settings down one at a time and check for stability.

You might find 5-4-4-12 is stable for instance.

However, you may find leaving your settings at 5-5-5-15 and overclocking the ram to 1097Mhz might be a faster system overall.

Hi, many thanks.. have found that it's stable at 5-5-5-12, with the cpu at 3.2Ghz. Guess that's good enough :) My gpu is the bottleneck now.. time to upgrade from the X1900XT in a couple of weeks time I think.

Bump the RAM voltage to 2.2, if that doesn't work you can try 2.3 even. When running 4gb, especially on older boards like yours it needs an extra little boost to give them the power they need. They're rated up to 2.3, I'd feel safer personally with them at 2.2 though.

I have the same and it can hit 900 stable with just 2gb. When I put in 4gb though it prefers to stay around 850.

EDIT: And I just noticed you're only using 2gb so ignore my previous post. Well you can still try 2.2 and see if that works.
