Can't get my head around overclocking

Dont use the Arctic Cooling, I went through all this recently and the AC7 is ok but no where as good as the Nero S, get the Nero S for £30 and MX-4 paste i'm currently using these on my 965 and it idles at 21C never seen it go over 42C after 3 hour gaming sessions, you also need to remove the motherboard to fit it

Sounds good...out of stock though. Am happy to pay the same (or a little more) for something that will cool as well. The Gelid Tranquilo or possibly the Titan Fenrir Evo springs to mind, just not sure if it'll fit in the case? It's a CM-690 II Advanced Dominator.

ETA:
Did some forum searching and think the Titan Fenrir Evo will fit in there and it appears it's a slightly better cooler than the Tranquilo so have ordered that.

as you got a black edition just use the multiplier for now,adjusting fsb adjusts loads of other stuff on your motherboard as well as your memory,if you adjust your multi past 17, you will need to up your voltages, before u do anythin i suggest u get a desent cooler like your titan fenrir, it should fit, eventually u should get to 3.6 or above with that cooler

Multiplier is at 18, so it's now running at 3.6 on stock. Stress tested it with Prime95 overnight and it hit 58.

Will leave it as it is and wait for the cooler to arrive before I do any more stress testing.

You DONT need to remove the motherboard to fit it, I missed out the word dont

Its the reason I bought it

So let me get this right, all you've done is manually adjust the multiplier and you have not touched anything else at all to get 3.6?

Yeh I've got my 955be @ 3.6ghz at the moment. Runs at 53c in prime95 with the thermolab baram. Didn't have to up any voltages either. Brilliant chip

Yep. Just the multiplier.
Cooler has just turned up, it's huge. I'm not sure it's going to fit and as it's one of these plastic sealed things I'm reluctant to get it out in case it won't fit and I need to return it.
