Hey all

Just got a new pc put together, and i stored all my music on my iRiverH10. Now when i come to put the music back, i cant see it anywhere in my computer. It's listed in the device manager as an unknown handheld device

WM10 or 11 cant recognise it, and i cant sync to it either way. It's all updated because it was working fine before.

Obviously i cant update the H10 because it formats it after the update.

One other thing is that when i plug it into a USB port, it doesn't make the usual windows noise, instead it's an evil low error kinda USB noise (hope that makes sense)

So does anyone have any ideas? :)

generally means theres no drivers installed. tried the manufacturers website for the latest drivers?

or is it meant to be plug and play?

Yeh it's meant to be plug and play, it worked with the last install of windows i had. The only thing i had on my PC was a util that allowed me to transfer music etc.

I am pretty sure one of the Windows updates does this. I used to be able to see my Rio Carbon as another drive on my PC but I think an update means that you can only remove and add music to it using WMP, which is a pain in the ass.

Nope i havnt sorted it yet, having to use the line in port on my speakers and use my mp3 through that :)

How would i go about doing emergency boot?

edit: It's an iRiver H10 6GB colour :)

easy peasy mate.

turn the player off
remove the battery
replace the battery
hold 'O' and turn the player on.

you'll see a message at the top of the screen, it should say 'emergency boot' if you have the latest firmware. when its booted, windows will pick up the H10 as a removable drive rather than a portable media device and you should have access to everything:)
