Hi guys,

I'm on windows 7 ultimate, 64bit.

Got the very latest drivers for my Netgear WN111 v2 N 300mbps adapter, using this with my Netgear DG834PN RangeMax 108mbps

Checked all the settings i can in the router options, it's set to "auto" which sets it on channel 6 and says it should be up to 108 speed. I can only get at 54, signal strength is excellent!

That's because it doesn't support 108Mbps.
108Mbit is a prepriatory standard, 300Mbps is an open IEEE standard.

Your adaptor will only run at B,G or N seeings as it can't find an N network it runs at G. Which is 54mbps max.

That's not technically 100% accurate but it's the simplest way I could think of to explain it just now.

It's backwards compatible with any of the 802.11 standards that run on the 2.4GHz band. 108Mbps isn't an 802.11 standard, it's something netgear fudged together by using multiple 54Mbit channels to sell more routers :)
They all did it. Linksys did "Speedbooster" routers and adapters that ran at 125Mbps.
But you could only do it using a linksys speedbooster branded card and router because the technology had to match at each end.
