Hi all I am having a few problems (I think) with my new PC its the Ultima Warlord from overclockers and i have just had the bios update to F4G and the fan was changed from the stock one to the Gelid Silent Spirit CPU Cooler.

Now the down side :( I cant get the over clock to run stable @3.8Ghz.
In XP im running at stock speed (3.2ghz) with a temp at idle of 43-45c

Here is my full spec:-
- AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.20GHz Overclocked to 3.80GHz
- XFX HD4850 xxx 512mb GPU
- Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
- Corsair XMS3 DHX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600C9DHX
- Gelid Silent Spirit CPU Cooler CPU Cooler
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
- LG GH22NS40 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black)
- Coolermaster Elite 335 Case - Black

Please Help

make sure cool and quiet is switched off so all fans run at maximum

i'd also suggest a reseat with some good thermal paste ( i dont know what overclockers use)

or you may need a different cooler, people only achive very good idle speeds with the best air cooling such as a TRUE or a sunbeam core contact cooler

also remember, we've had very warm days recently, this really wont help matters

Ok i will thx for the advise i have ordered some new TIM (ArctiClean Thermal Material Remover and Surface Purifier - 60ml Kit and OCZ Freeze Extreme Thermal Conductivity Compound )

Will give that a try as to the Overclock i have no idea why it will not stay stable ????
Any ideas welcome

phenom2s hate heat thats why it isnt stable. anything above 65c and it will just crash. themal capacity is rated at 62c.

they arnt very cool chips anyway. dont even get me started on my 940... got a scythe ninja v1 with 2 1900rpm fans strapped to it and im always strugling with its temps.

what are your voltages rated at? cpu cpu/nb ht ram, is ram being overclocked or just through cpu multi?
