Can't get Netgear Nighthawk router to see Internet connection with Virgin Superhub 3

Hi. I've just purchased a Netgear R8000 Nighthawk X6 router to improve the WiFi in my house. I have Virgin Media using a SuperHub 3. I thought it would be straight forward but it's not as I can't get it to work. I put the superhub into Modem Mode and connected the Nighthawks yellow Internet ethernet socket to one of the superhub's ethernet port and it didn't work. I managed to start the wizard on the Nighthawk by going to http://www.routerlogin.net but it couldn't detect an Internet connection. Anyone know what I need to do? TIA

1 of the ports on the VM hub isn't good enough for a start. IIRC it HAS to be port 1. Your nighthawk will need to have a DHCP connection. Usually I find manually setting up the router to receive IP via DHCP and then rebooting the Superhub works.

I believe DHCP only works by MAC address also. I had the same problem when I tried my Netgear R7000. I was able to resolve it by cloning my old routers MAC address in the settings. You can also probably ring Virgin to allow your new router to work or google to see if there's some other way of doing this.

EDIT - Whilst I definitely remember needing to do this to get it to work, Google doesnt bring up many hits, which leads me to suspect maybe it's not an issue.

I had all sorts of problems sorting out seeing the superhub up in modern only mode, and the thing that worked in the end turned out being to switch the power off to the superhub completely for a good 30 mins, plugging the new router into it then powering it all up.

I guess something gets cleared after that time, and I couldn't believe that could be the fix, but worked for me.

I've always had to reboot both of the Superhub's I've had again once plugging my own router into it to get it to detect an internet connection. Not a big issue but took me longer than it should have to figure out :p
