Hi

I have just got a new connection with Virgin Media but I can't connect my laptop to it. I can make a connection to the wireless thing and it says good connection an has 54 mbps but it then wont let me use internet like as if there's nothing to connect through.

The main PC which I'm using now is connected to it fine though.

Is there something I have to enable or do to get it working.

If i'm correct virgin have a sort of registration process. Ring them up and they should give you a ip which you put in the address bar which will connect, Trust me. You simply register your pc then restart. Bam. Net.

i think you might need to register the mac address of the laptop
Not if he's using a wireless router. This isn't a MAC registration issue because one PC on his network can get on fine.

Are you sure you're connecting to the right access point?

Registration involves registering the modem, not the laptop or any other device. If you can connect fine with another PC on the network then you know the modem has already been registered.

So your main pc works fine with Virgin but laptop via wireless does not.
Make sure the WPA/WEP key is same on wireless laptop and router.

Also check you don't have MAC address filtering on in your router,if you do then you need to enter the physical MAC address of your laptop to the router so it will allow the laptop through.
