Hi there all,

First up, specs:

E6600
2GB Cellshock PC-6400
Asus P5B Deluxe

K, as the name suggests I can get to 3ghz fine, no problems whatso ever. Atm it is O/C'd to 335 x 9 on the FSB giving me 3.03ghz on the CPU and the ram is running at 1005mhz with 5-5-5-12 timings.

Temps under load (S@H) are 64C and 62C. If I take the side panel off my case it lowers to around 54C (I know I gots a poo case but xmas is on it's way:D)

The only reason I now have the side panel on is because I have given up trying to get the cpu any further.

I know it not he FSB as it will and can go to 493-498 x 6 giving me around 3ghz again and around 1000 on the ram with a 1:1 divider.

Vcore is set to 1.25V in the bios with CPUz reading 1.92-1.2V under load.

Basicly I waould like to know how far I should try pushing the CPU? Everytime I tried getting past 3.1ghz one core would fail. I had the Vcore up to 1.4 I think and temps hit low 90's.... my Tjunction on coretemp says 85C so I don't think that was too good....

Any suggestions?

If I can't get the CPU any further would I have more benifits from running the stupidly high FSB?

Cheers, Doug.

Edit: Woops, Put his in the wrong section...Could it be moved to the O/C section please

K, cheers first of all for all the replies!

That temp was in my poo case with the side case on after a long ass while.(looking to get a new one for xmas maybe)

I have run Orthos with the current clock (334x9 FSB, 3Ghz CPU, 1004mhz 5,5,5,12) and it keeps crashing?

It doesn't fail and then go ahhhhh red screen etc it just crashes and windows tries to send a report etc.

It did run for about 3 mins tho and the highest temp was 59C with the side case off with the voltage at 1.275. To then show the difference I left the side panel on for a couple of hours with S@H running then Orthos for as long as it would stay open and I had a max temp with current settings of just over 70C... I really need a new case.

Cpu Cooler is a Arctic Freezer Pro 7 and case is a coolermaster cavalier.

Temps where measured using coretemp 0.95 with the vista64 patch thingy.

The problem I have is that as soon as I hit around 3.1ghz (doesn't matter what the RAM is at and I can play around with different FSB so I know it's not a blind spot on the mobo) one core will constantly fail.

How much is a safe voltage or is it just go until your temps go insane? (like I did before:rolleyes:)

What would you say would be a safe MAX temp for a constant OC?

I'm thinking of going over to a penryn (equivalent to the Q6600) a month or two after they come out. Will the temps on that be a lot lower or only a little bit do you reckon?

Cheers guys, Doug.
