Came to uni on Saturday and brought my desktop with me, was all fine and everything till Sunday night when it decides to freeze and the win XP loading screen, the blue bar just stopped loading. Was too ****** to do anything about it but tried it Monday and Tuesday, same thing, but then tonight its started working again for whatever reason so dunno whats going on, as the thing would boot up in safe mode.

Think the harddrive might be knackered or something as thats showing up in the taskbar is showing my hard drive - http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e185/PhatPhish9/taskbar.jpg

Any ideas of what could be going on, scared to turn my computer off incase it won't turn back on atm

Is your hdd a SATA drive, if so then thats what that little icon means (basically SATA are hot swappable - well the newer ones) With the freezing problem, then yeah your hdd may be dying....

check eventvwr

start, run, eventvwr

look under system, if you have loads of 'disk' errors, then backup your stuff pronto and replace the hard drive

Yeah just seems to be a bit tempremental, remember it did it in the summer once and I just hit the reset key and was fine, just thought it had properly gone when it wouldn't load at all.

Other thing was when I loaded it in safe mode I remember a list of like files in the drivers file in Windows being listed, can't remember whether it was an error list or what.
