Cant Get Q6600 Over 3150MHz

Hiya,
What cooler you got ??

Off top of my head, Vcore 1.33 in bios
Ram i upped volts to 2.20

Got her at 3.4 @ 356x9

May need more vcore but mines solid at that

Other settings i'd have to check later

Ciao

OK at the sec i've got it stable at 354x9 3186MHz temps are 45degC idle and around 55degC max under load.

If I increase the FSB to 356x9 it BSOD's under load almost straight away.

I'll try increasing the volts to 1.5 and up the FSB to 356x9 again and see if it takes, I'll report back shortly!

Right with voltage at 1.4950 and at 356x9 3204MHz it boots still but as soon as I run 3DMark06 it hangs during the first test. Also the temps at idle were around 52degC but upped to around 58-62degC+ under load.

Any more ideas?

Could I have hit a bit of a void? I've heared people say the Q6600 has a bit of a problem around the 3.2 mark? I've even lowered the multiplyer but to no joy. Should I just skip a few MHz say 50 and see if it boots at that?

It could be an FSB hole on the mobo.

Raise the Quads FSB to 377 with 1.4v and see if it boots although your RAM may hold you back.

Keep the ratio on 1:1

have you slacked you ram timings off, they should be fine, but its a good idea to take that out of the equation, increase the timings, you shouldn't leave it on auto anyway., get you CPU stable then bring you ram up to speed.

OK 354x9 on stock voltage eventually failed, the highest I can now get is 354x9 with a core voltage of 1.3050.

Tried what wiggins said (377 with 1.4) but computer failed to boot. Also tried 365 at 1.4 but that failed loading windows.

Any more ideas, really seem to have hit a brick wall here.

I'll try uping the MCH & ICH as sugested see if that gets me any further.
I'll also try manually setting the RAM.

Have you tested the limits of your RAM, and the max FSB on the board yet?

Don't worry about what the CPU will do until you know what the board can supply it. Drop the multi to x6, stick a low divider on then crank the FSB.

My IP35 Pro got to 450 and was still giving, there's reviews out there with it seeing 500.

What would you guys recomend I should do from here, my best settings so far seemed to be:

354x9 3186MHz
1.3050V Core
RAM 1:1.50
Temps 45degC idle 55degC under load

I'm sure I must be able to push a bit more yet, but just seem to be stuck.

Hi there

I was in your shoes recently I have the same chip and mobo as you.

What is the VID of your chip?
What cooling are you using? (case etc)
what is your memory?

GO slow and keep a record of your progress mate.

keep the ram divider on 1:1 and keep upping the FSB on the chip until it fails. If its failing on 354 x 9 I'd up your Vcore to 1.33 and try again etc. You may also need to up the DDR2 voltage and also the CPU VTT and MCH in the BIOS. I also disabled C1E in the bios. Your Vcore looks low for that clock but the chips do vary.

Mine is at 378 x 9, vcore is at 1.43v

Don't I feel daft, just realised my RAM was set to default voltage at something stupidly low :S I've set it to 2.2V now and the chips clocking higher.

At present im at:

367x9 3303MHz
1.3850V Core
RAM 1:1.50
Temps 50degC idle 61degC under load
