Followed so many different guides on setting Sickbeard and Couchpotato up with a torrent client on my N54L (running UBUNTU) and I just can't get it to work.

Does anyone know of any idiot proof, step-by-step guides for getting everything working? From setting up a torrent client, to then setting up Sickbeard and CouchPotato.

Ive managed to install Sickbeard and Couchpotato and I've tried a couple of torrent clients but cant seem to get them to work with each other and its cabbaging my brain.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Have you got your folders setup properly?

When using newsgroups there's also a sabtosickbeard.py script that needs variables adding - might have to do the same for your setup.

Also, are you using Sickbeard or Sickrage? If Beard, I recommend moving to Rage, Beard is no longer developed. Rage is very much developed, in fact I had 340+ commits to catch up on last update!

My hope is to use it with torrents for now which I know they all support, I don't have any newsgroup access unfortunately.

I'm using Sickbeard too. I installed it using the AtoMiC installer (http://www.htpcbeginner.com/atomic-toolkit/) along with couchpotato and qBittorrent first then when I couldnt get that to work I tried Transmission.

Think I might have to remove everything and start again before I give it another go. Its been doing my head in!

Clone the gits from github for Sickrage and Couchpotato directly, don't mess about with any middleware or third party guff.

The HTPC Beginner guides are pretty good, follow the one for SR+CP+SabNZBd+ to get that set up, then integrate torrents into that build. Reckon that'll work.

I think I followed that guide initially. I think ive become stuck in getting them to talk to my torrent software or that ive not got the torrent software set up correctly!

Whats the easiest way of removing applications on Linux so that I can get everything clean again before I mess things up by reinstalling stuff haha!

How familiar with the command line are you?

rm -R /home/rossi/.sickbeard (or rage)
rm -R /home/rossi/.couchpotato

Substituting rossi for your username, dunno where the Atomic toolkit installs them though...

Yeah, blitz them then pull them off git again so you've got a blank canvas. :)

Basically you want to set up a folder structure similar to:

/Downloads/Incomplete
/Downloads/Completed
/Downloads/CompletedMovies
/Downloads/CompletedTV

Tell each app where to look for downloaded files, and then in the torrent program I assume you can set categories up to move download each file type accordingly. Are you using API keys to get the apps to talk to one and another?

No not using API keys to the best of my knowledge. There are specific sections to configure in each app to get them to talk to one another which i thought id done correctly but alas I haven't.

I tried using qBittorrent but was getting no joy so switched to Transmission but I can't access the GUI which I think you need to change some settings as I can only access Transmission via the WebUI via my PC.

I did find a guide which talked through how to configure everything to work with each other but when I got to the Transmission section the interface looked different and I think it was down to me only having the WebUI available.
