Hi there,

I have been messing about with this m/b for about a week now trying to get the sound to work, but no matter what I do I get the same Error Message when I try and install the drivers. Message is:

--
The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware.

Note: If you installed audio software without restarting your PC, restart now, then run this setup again.

So far I have:

-Got and tried latest drivers of Asus and also other known driver sources
-Flash m/b bios to latest version
-Tried with front panel connected and disconnected
-Checked the sound is enabled in Bios
-Tried to install manually through Add New Hardware

All without any success. It does actually look like the OS is not even detecting the audio adaptor at all.

System:

Antec Fusion MATX MediaCenter Case - Aluminium Front Bezel with 430W PSU
Asus A8V-VM Socket 939 VIAKM890 M-ATX Green VGA Sound Lan USB 2.0 FSB 1000 SATA 133
Kingston 512MB DDR PC3200 400MHz CL3 Memory Module
Seagate 200GB SATAII/300 7200rpm 8MB Cache - OEM
Asus Nvidia 7300GS 256MB PCI-E

Can anyone help?

:p yeah i am pretty sure... the big letters on the box kinda gave it away :)

Anyway, I ran that prog just to be sure no weird stuff was goin on and it did recognise it as an A8V-VM.

So in the mean time i have got a replacement board in (same model) and i have the same problem! It just dosn't even recognise the sound at all. No prompts in Windows, nothing in Device Manager.

Do you think it may need the front panel connecting? It does not have any jumpers on the audio connectors as I expected.

Its driving me mad!
