Cant get Steam in Offline mode

Trying to get Steam to run in offline mode ready for a lan match, however its having none of it.

When I run in offline mode comes up with the error:

Could not connect to Steam network
This could be due to a problem with your Internet connect, or with the steam network.

Now I have deleted the usual .blob files and .dll but not fixed it.

Any ideas?

Running on Vista 64bit SP1

try hitting file->go offline in the steam app.

Make sure you've absolutely updated every single game on your library to 100%. That usually fixes it for me.

Yeah tried that didn't work, had to reinstall steam client completely

Could have tried unplugging yer router/modem from your PC, then when steam tried to load it would have asked to start in offline mode due to no connection being detected.
