Can't get TV sound via my new AVR, please help

Hi guys so I finally got my first AVR 5.1 system and I love it. ONLY problem is I cannt get sound from the speakers when I watch TV.

Both my TV and my AVR support Audio Return Channel. HDMI plugged into the correct HDMI(ARC). All options are enable on both TV and ARC. The only way is i have to use optical in from TV to AVR.

I can get 5.1 sound with my PS3 and 360 via HDMI in, so I don't think its my AVR fault

There will be a setting in the AVR to setup which audio source to use when using certain inputs. Have you set this up correctly?
