I built a new desktop system and purchased windows 8, I don't really like 8 and want to go back to windows 7.

I still have my windows 7 32/64 bit dvds home edition and hopefully even though I installed this once on my old system it will install again on my new system.

But I just can't get the windows 7 dvd to boot, It always loads windows 8, I have changed the boot order to my dvdrom 1st, changed to legacy in bios and secure boot off but still it won't boot from dvdrom.

My motherboard is a Asus Z87m plus, any help what I'm doing wrong?

How long are you leaving it for? Installed 7 on an Asus pc over the weekend and had to leave it a good 15 minutes until it got to the options page

put the DVD into ODD, boot to BIOS/UEFI.

change back from Legacy to dual or whatever they call it.

look for the device with your DVD in - you got three options - UEFI DVD, CD/DVD and USB DVD.

select the correct one for 1st boot device, save and there you go.

Think you need to select the uefi dvd drive as the boot option - should solve the issue.
