First off, im unsure if this should be here, but i'm not sure where the fault lies, and this forum has the highest activity
If it needs to be moved to OS&R or wherever - mods feel free to do so
Ok, so since i've had my new PC up and running (1/2 months), i've had a few problems when it came to installing the odd program.
Never bothered looking into it, because the main games i play, i've been able to DL off the net (WoW/CSS etc - nothing dodgy
), but ever since i first installed windows, some disk's just refuse to run.
Now it christmas and i've got BF2, CoH, Oblivion and FEAR sitting next to me, and i can't play any of them
As i said, i've been able to DL games off the net prior to this. Audio CD's can be played/ripped fine. I can watch DVD's, and i've been able to install Hitman 2 perfectly fine (all games are on DVD btw, if that helps), but all the rest of my games just won't install :S
Oblivion gets 40% through installation, then comes up with the following box:
Feature transfer error
Feature: Oblivion
Component: Oblivion
File: D:\data4.cab
Error: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error
FEAR gets 10% of the way through, before i get:
Feature transfer error
Feature: Default Feature
Component: Default Component
File: D:\data2.cab
Error: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error
CoH doesn't like to auto-run and appears to crash if i try to autoplay/explore my D drive, so i have to try and install via add/remove programs in control panel.
After a few seconds installing i get:
Error: 1305
Error reading from file D:\Program files..................
Verify file exist's
retry / cancel
retry ends in "fatal error during installation"
BF2 gives me similar problems to the I/O device error
Any help id greatly appreciated - i got this rig to do some gaming, and now it seems i can't >_>
