Can't install GTA IV

I am trying to install GTA IV, and get a "your system is not compatible" message. Does this game work okay on Windows 7 64bit?

Dude, right click and properties then hit compatibility.

Select Vista SP2, should solve the problem!

Downloaded this from Direct2Drive and it won't install on Window 7 64.
Tried changing to run in compatibility mode and it still wont install.

It's broke

got gta4 on steam and works fine on win7 64

Make sure you have games for windows live installed and working, seen it before where it didn't check for it then failed when it went to install

I ran the installer as administrator as well as compatibility mode as I had the same problems.

*nods* I knew about that, just wanted to rule out other possibilities before I tried.

I tell you, it's a pain going through the install routine:
* select compatibility options, start installing
* Install rockstar social club app
* register with social club through browser
* continue install - oh, GFWL wants to update.
* let it update, then start the install again
* start up the game, oh need to link rockstar id with GFWL id.
* return to game, start up - oh game detects a patch, updates itself
* patch says rockstar club no longer needed, removes that.
* now start up the game, but need to log in to social club through in-game browser (I realised after that's not necessary)
* finally, finally, start the game

What a hassle.

Yeah, wasn't much fun getting this going after the 6 or 7 hours it took to download 14Gb. Only got about one third of my speed during download.

I skipped all the Social Club stuff and GFWL during install as I only wanted offline. I also installed patch #6 immediately to remove the social club thing. It refused to play offline, always asking for my SC login. I had to set up a Gamertag to go with my existing Windows Live account and then install GFWL.

Only then did it run.

Well, I now have this installed and working fine on W7 64bit. I had to install it by logging into the administrator account. Even trying to run the installer as "Run as administrator" in my normal user account wouldn't work.
