Hi Folks,

I have a canon ip1900 printer. I used it on my macbook pro and it worked fine but I have since sold the mac and want to use it on my windows 7 64 HP machine. I have turned it on and plugged it in.

It shows up in my devices and printers as unspecified!

I don't have the driver disk that came with the printer any more and can't seem to find the drivers or any help on installing the printer online. Can any body help me!!

Hi,

I had a look there and the only thing I could see that mentioned a driver was "Canon Inkjet Printer Driver Add-On Module (2)". I tried it and it just said "The printer could not be detected". However, it is in my devices as unspecified!

Yeah, seems like it should be supported by default. Did you have another printer installed?

Can you try uninstalling the unspecified printer?

EDIT - what about trying this...

2. Canon Windows Utility My Printer (2.30)

Provides access to printers functions from the Taskbar. Now including the 'Diagnose & Repair' function & Windows 7 compatibility.

No other printer is connected or has ever been connected to my PC.

I tried that link and again the software says printer not detected!

I would give Canon a shout mate. I just had a look here and it seems the ip1900 is not listed, yet the ip1700 + 1800 are. Strange.

I would've thought the driver for your printer would be pre-installed in Win 7 tbh.

Is it a fresh installation?

It's a fresh install.

I have just managed to fix it. I removed all the canon software from my PC that I had installed trying to get it working. I then deleted it out of my printers and devices and restarted my PC and it picked it up and installed it first time.

Odd. Anyway, thanks for the help
