Can't install Oblivion...

Hi all. I bought Oblivion today, and when i try to install it i get "Setup.exe has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I'm using Vista Ultimate 64bit.
4gb RAM
Q6600 CPU

Any solutions?

Lol, if you think its hard trying to install it, try uninstalling it, thats practically impossible ^^

Yeah im fully aware that in doing so, i might lose a huge chunk of my social life

Not an Oblivion guru, though I thoroughly enjoy the game - possible faulty/damaged disk?

Try popping the files from the DVD onto the hard disk, and install from there.

Try compatibility mode on the .exe file, if Vista still has that in place??

Which version of Oblivion have you got?

Its not that, its the fact that uninstalling it is pretty much impossible, you can delete all the files from your hard drive etc etc, but ive never found a way to remove it completely that doesnt invlove the registry. Maybe they have fixed this now but all i know is i deleted that game over a year ago and ive still got the icon in the start menu ^^

Navigate to the disc and try to run as admin on the setup file.

I have this problem...Oblivion has lodged itself in my PC and won't gerroff. I was going to look up ways to remove it, but a full format is the eastest solution - it's the only way to be sure.

wont crap cleaner clean the registry for you ?
