I have an SSD with windows installed and an M.2 for my games.

If my SSD runs low on storage i'd like to be able to transfer or install some apps on the m.2 but most apps will only let me install to the drive that the OS is installed on. Why is this ?

I'm able to install games on the m.2 no problem. But not apps

I cant think of many apps that insist on being installed on your boot drive. Nearly all give you the option of where to install.

Logitech G HUB, Dragon Centre just to name two

Should'nt be a problem as I dont install many apps. But would be nice to have the option of moving them over if I needed to in future.

You could probably fool any program to think it is being installed on C using links.
There's the command prompt mklink command, but there are also Windows Explorer extensions.
Might be easier to install to C: first and then move the folder and make link back to the location on C:

You are right, some apps give no choice of install location . For example: MS Office, Steelseries Engine v3. Luckily main games libraries are better (Epic, Blizzard). Steam even lets us move entire games libraries.

I sympathize,!
