Can't install Windows 7 on Vertex 3 SSD

Okay, another random (this time good) result.

I swapped the SSD to a SATA II port, and it installed Windows flawlessly.

What just happened here? Are my SIII controllers faulty?

I once had a similar issue when installing windows where my lg bd-rom drive would always stop working half way through an installation and it drove me crazy. After many attempts I managed to get it installed after I changed gpu so thought that was the problem.

However, my bd drive was still playing up and would vanish from the device manager list and not read any discs requiring a reboot! Anyway to cut my rambling short it turned out I had a faulty psu! It was powerful enough a good brand and the last thing I checked so it might be worth you trying a differnet one to see if it helps :)

I have a Corsair AX1200 :) and the problem is apparently solved, but thanks!

I was just going to suggest trying a different SATA cable, but you went one better and tried a different port.

You were using a proper SATA 6Gb rated SATA cable when connected to that port originally?

Yes, I am using proper SATA III certified cables. I also suspected that maybe it was some issue with the SSD, but I've just remembered that my WD Caviar didn't work either when I put it in the very same SATA port.
