Can't install Windows 7 updates without it downloading Win 10

I dont want to install Windows 10 at the moment. i've removed and hidden the Win update which gives you the annoying system tray icon about it.

however, when i go to Windows update i've got 18 important updates to install. however, if i click to install it goes to "downloading Windows 10" which i dont want. ive hidden / unselected the Windows 10 update from there but it still does it.

any ideas how i can download those important updates without Windows 10 forcing itself on me?

yeah i uninstalled that and that got rid of the tray icon

I was reading that Windows 10 is downloaded automatically as an update and just sits there until you decide to install it. Even if you never intend on installing it it will download.

I didn't read the full article but that was the initial part of it.

yeah and it was using a load of space on my HD. i sorted that with a disk cleanup which removed the install files.
