Hi,

I need help I cannot start or install WIndows.

Problem started when my HDD, where I had installed windows 8, almost died. I couldnt boot it up so I changed the hard disk priority and could log in my windows 7. I then decided to install Windows 8 in that HDD. I did a shrink of my volumes and made space. Before restarting that PC, I also formatted the drive where I had installed windows 8. (I am able to access files but it has almost died)

Now, when I try installing win 8, it says it cant do that as the partition is dynamic. What is this all about?

I am now running SLAX which is not detecting my HDD so now I cannot make the backup.

Multiple issues..Cant fix them! Please help..

Google how to fix the master boot record using the windows repair function when booting from the windows cd. That should fix the boot issue.

Didn't work

no. of Windows installations found: 0

So, I ran the drive in another computer, made the backup and did a clean install.

Well,i have little bit knowledge of that but i have read in an article that windows 8 clean install involves removing the existing operating system installed on a partition (a previous Windows 8 installation, Windows XP, Linux, Windows 7... it doesn't matter) and then installing Windows 8 from scratch on that same drive. A clean install is also sometimes referred to as a"custom install."That's all i know.
